Academic Programs

Thank you for your interest in marine sciences at the University of Connecticut. It is an exciting time of growth for our academic and research programs, and we hope you will take the time to read about all we have to offer you for your academic experience.

We are involved with both undergraduate and graduate programs. Our undergraduate degree major in Coastal Studies offers interdisciplinary education that combines social and natural sciences. We also offer two minors, Marine Biology and Oceanography, and we participate in the University's Environmental Science Major. Our graduate degree program in Oceanography offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees. Research and education in our department is enhanced by support facilities, which include a fleet of small vessels and our 76-foot RV Connecticut, a seawater facility with environmental controls, walk-in environmental chambers and clean rooms, an electronics shop, and a fully equipped dive program that offers SCUBA certification.
