The Department of Marine Sciences of the University of Connecticut is pleased to announce A Minor in Oceanography
A minor in Oceanography is at least 15 credits of 200-level course work in marine sciences. Students must take all courses in Group A and at least 1 course in Group B.

MARN 260 Biological Oceanography (3 credits) 2nd Semester A course in biological processes in oceanic and coastal waters. MARN 270 Descriptive Physical Oceanography (3 credits) 1st Semester Ocean basin characteristics; oceanic and atomospheric circulation. MARN 275W Geological Oceanography (3 credits) 1st Semester Basic Concepts in geological oceanography. MARN 280W Marine Biogeochemistry (3 credits) 1st Semester Composition, origin and solution chemistry of sea water.

MARN 220Q Environmental Reaction and Transport (3 credits) 2nd Semester The chemical/biological reactions and transport dynamics of environmental systems. MARN 230 Coastal Circulation and Sediment Transport (3 credits) 1st semester Circulation and mixing in estuaries and the inner continental shelf. MARN 235V Environmental Fluid Dynamics (3 credits) 1st semester Fluid dynamics of coastal waters, estuaries, rivers, lakes and groundwater flows. MARN 236 Marine Microbiology (3 credits) 1st Semester General survey of the taxonomy, physiology, ecology of marine microorganisms. MARN294 Marine Biology (3 credits) 1st Semester The study of the kinds and distributions of marine organisms.
